Job summary

Advanced Laser Systems Technology (ALST) in Orlando, Florida seeks a Lead, Mechanical Design Engineer to drive advanced laser range finders and laser designators for airborne, maritime and ground vehicles. You will manage large, complex programs, provide technical direction, and mentor a multidisciplinary team to deliver robust mechanical solutions.

The role requires deep experience in EO/opto-mechanical systems, GD&T, and hands-on involvement with manufacturing and verification, with onsite

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably EO/defense.
• 6+ years with SolidWorks and CAD tools.
• Experience with GD&T and electromechanical packaging.
• Ability to obtain US security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design specialized laser systems and components with SolidWorks.
• Lead large, complex projects and guide engineering teams.
• Develop 3D models, 2D prints, BOMs, and design documentation.
• Analyze, design, and test mechanical and thermo-fluid subsystems.
• Provide technical direction and coordinate with internal/external customers.
