Job summary

Aquila Technology is seeking a CAD Designer to join our team near Lexington, MA. The Senior optical/mechanical designer will work on sensor systems, including electronics, thermal, mechanical, and optical components, across multiple short-duration projects.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CATIA, and hold a Bachelor's degree. The role requires the ability to obtain an Active Secret Clearance and to live within 100 miles of Lexington,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and CAD
• Experience with optical/mechanical subsystems and EO/IR systems a plus
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, and related CAD tools
• Familiarity with machining, sheet metal, and thermal/structural analysis
• Clearance readiness and US citizenship preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop complex designs for imaging and sensor systems.
• Model mechanical enclosures, optical assemblies, and thermal/mechanical interfaces.
• Collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams across projects.
• Ensure design for fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Coordinate and execute system performance testing.
