Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Senior Optical Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing and testing for cameras and lidar systems on lunar vehicles. You will build production flow, align optics, calibrate image sensors, and ramp production across growing product lines.

Collaboration with design, test, and supply chain is essential. The role demands strong DFx, process control, and RCA skills, plus experience in cleanroom environments and ASME Y14.5 tolerances.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• 8+ years of experience in prototyping, manufacturing, testing or calibration of optical imaging systems.
• Experience developing manufacturing/assembly processes for optical elements or instruments; include process control and RCA.
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and perform tolerance analysis.
• Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality standards; strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop production flow and testing for optical products, including alignment and calibration.
• Scale production quantities per program requirements and create manufacturability feedback to design teams.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation across all build versions.
• Lead root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions through FMEA and risk assessments.
• Coordinate cleanroom space setup and sourcing of specialty optical equipment.
