Job summary

MMF Vision Center in Placerville, CA seeks an Optician to oversee the optical department and lead a team of opticians. You will ensure accurate prescription interpretation, manage inventory, and maintain strong patient service standards in a busy ophthalmology practice.

The role requires at least 3 years of optician experience, with ABO/NCLE certifications preferred. Proficiency with optical software and EMR systems is expected to support efficient workflows and billing processes.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience as an optician.
Strong knowledge of ophthalmic lenses, frames, measurements, and dispensing protocols.
Prior supervisory or lead experience in an optical or medical setting preferred.
Experience in an ophthalmology practice or medical optical shop.
Familiarity with Medicare, VSP, EyeMed, and insurance/vision plan billing.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
ABO Certification preferred.
NCLE Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the optical department.
Supervise optician staff and train team members.
Interpret and fulfill prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
Manage inventory and vendor relationships.
Monitor financial performance of the optical shop.
Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians and admins to ensure high-quality care.
