Job summary

Ziply Fiber in Everett, WA is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to design and grow the optical transport network, focusing on ROADM-based DWDM and coherent 100G/400G services, aligning with IP/MPLS core.

You will lead engineering efforts, mentor peers, and collaborate with network architecture to deliver scalable, reliable transport.

The role requires advanced DWDM expertise and hands-on testing; on-site presence in our evolving fiber network.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of network engineering with at least 3 years in DWDM/optical transport.
• Strong IP/MPLS knowledge in a packet-optical or converged core environment.
• Experience with DWDM/ROADM, OTN (G.709), SONET/SDH, and 100G/400G services.
• Hands-on experience with optical test equipment such as OTDRs, OSAs, and power meters.
• Ability to lead projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design ROADM-based DWDM topologies and specify coherent transponders.
• Own end-to-end DWDM and optical transport designs with standardization.
• Commission and turn up optical systems; validate OSNR and span loss.
• Lead vendor evaluations and technology selection.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
