Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Sr Optical Transceiver Firmware Engineer to develop embedded firmware for cutting-edge 800G, 1.6T, and future-generation optical transceivers. You will design the firmware infrastructure for module control, diagnostics, monitoring, configuration, and host communication in data center environments.

Work with cross-functional teams across hardware, optics, and system engineering to define architecture and meet aggressive performance, power, and reliability targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field required.
• 8+ years of embedded firmware or software development experience in networking or data-center environments.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience developing firmware for hardware control and real-time platforms.
• Hands-on experience with optical transceiver technologies and protocols (I2C/MDIO/SPI/PMBus CMIS).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and debug embedded firmware for optical transceiver platforms.
• Implement firmware features supporting CMIS, I2C, MDIO, SPI, and PMBus.
• Develop module initialization, optical diagnostics, telemetry, and power management.
• Collaborate with hardware, optics, and systems teams to meet performance and reliability goals.
• Create automation tools and validation frameworks for production readiness.
