Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Senior Optical Transceiver Firmware Engineer to design and implement embedded firmware for high-speed optical modules (e.g., 800G, 1.6T). You will collaborate with hardware, optics, and systems teams to ensure performance, power, and reliability targets are met in data-center environments.

The role requires 8+ years in embedded firmware, strong C/C++, and experience with QSFP-DD/OSFP platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field.
8+ years in embedded firmware or software in networking/telecom hardware-control.
Strong C/C++ for embedded systems.
Experience with optical transceivers (QSFP28/DD/OSFP).
Knowledge of interfaces: I2C/I3C, MDIO, SPI, UART, PMBus.
CMIS firmware experience.
Labs and debugging with oscilloscopes/logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and debug embedded firmware for optical transceiver platforms (QSFP-DD, OSFP).
Implement firmware features for CMIS, I2C, MDIO, SPI, PMBus.
Define firmware architecture with cross-functional engineering teams.
Develop manufacturing/validation firmware and automation tools.
Support interoperability testing with networking equipment.
Assist production testing, firmware programming, and field upgrades.
