Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a highly motivated Sr Optical Transceiver Firmware Engineer to develop embedded software and firmware for 800G, 1.6T, and future-generation optical transceiver modules. You will enable module control, diagnostics, monitoring, configuration, and host communication for high-speed networking in AI, cloud, and data center environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, CS, or related field.
• 8+ years of embedded firmware or software development in networking or hardware-control.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems and real-time platforms.
• Experience with optical transceiver tech (QSFP28/OSFP) and relevant interfaces.
• Knowledge of CMIS, I2C/MDIO, SPI, UART, PMBus protocols and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and debug firmware for advanced optical transceiver platforms.
• Implement CMIS, I2C, MDIO, SPI, and PMBus support; handle module init and control.
• Develop diagnostics, telemetry, DDM, fault handling, and health monitoring.
• Collaborate with hardware, electrical, and system teams on architecture and specs.
• Support manufacturing, validation, and automated test tooling for production.
