Job summary

Corning Inc. in Texas seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to conceptualize innovative mechanical solutions for new product development.

You will deliver high‑level and detailed CAD models and 2D drawings for customers, analytical modeling, patents, and technical reports, while guiding concepts through to production. The role requires 4–7 years of related experience, a BS in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), and proficiency with Creo, SolidWorks or NX.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required; Mechanical preferred
• 4–7 years of industry related experience (Product, Design, NPI)
• Experience designing injection molded and/or sheet metal parts is desirable
• Strong problem solving and ownership of project goals
• Demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams and communicate clearly

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize innovative mechanical design solutions for new product development.
• Create mechanical designs of plastic injection molded and sheet metal components to meet functional requirements.
• Provide high-level and detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for concept reviews, analytical modeling, patents, technical reports, or cost analyses.
• Lead projects from a technical standpoint, coordinating CAD design, prototyping labs, and testing/qualification labs.
• Mentor junior engineers in engineering best practices and Corning processes.
• Collaborate with global project teams to translate concepts into manufacturable designs and support full-scale production.
• Work with Manufacturing to release new products and provide documentation for IP and customer presentations.
