Job summary

North Wind Services LLC in Livermore, CA is seeking an Engineering Technician V Optical/Mechanical Technician to support the National Ignition Facility optics production. The role requires handling large optics in a cleanroom, performing metrology, and following safety procedures under close supervision. The position offers potential shift flexibility, overtime, and 24/7 operation.

An A.S. in Optical/Mechanical technologies and production experience are valued; candidates must meet security

Qualifications

• A.S. or equivalent in Optical or Mechanical technologies.
• Experience with production technologies, including evaluating and testing processes.
• Ability to perform work deliberately, carefully, and safely.
• Demonstrated ability to work within deadlines to perform multiple tasks and communicate effectively with managers and customers.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately record process parameters.
• Experience with database, data manipulation skills, PCs, and software.
• Experience in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handling of large optics up to 18" square and 50 lbs using lifts or two-person techniques.
• Processing large optics: hand and automated cleaning, coating, etching.
• Inspecting large optics.
• Mounting optics into mechanical frames.
• Performing metrology on optics (interferometry, ellipsometry, spectroscopy, imaging).
• Work in a Class 100 cleanroom.
• Use data management systems to track work and report problems.
• Follow written procedures and safety protocols.
• May require second shift or rotating days; support 24/7 operation.
