Job summary
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in Livermore, CA is seeking experienced Senior Optical Metrology Engineers to support the Optics Metrology Group at the National Ignition Facility. These on-site roles require advanced metrology expertise, leadership, and collaboration with DoD tech customers and multi-disciplinary teams.
Positions are full-time at SES levels with comprehensive responsibilities from design of optical tests to vendor coordination and system upgrades.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Optics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- DOE security clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Experience with interferometric measurements, photometry, spectrophotometry, and radiometry.
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar for data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute complex metrology evaluations and experiments.
- Design and develop optical test methods for custom applications.
- Analyze instruments and vendor data to validate process control.
- Mentor operators and lead technical training.
- Estimate schedules and manage projects under minimal direction.
- Oversee metrology process improvement and vendor performance.
