Job summary

North Wind Services LLC seeks an Engineering Technician V to support the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at LLNL in Livermore, CA. The role includes configuring diagnostics, installation, maintenance, data acquisition, and troubleshooting in a high-security environment.

As an NWS employee on-site, you will work 12-hour shifts and collaborate with scientists and engineers, pursuing a DOE Q clearance while ensuring safety, quality, and reliability in a complex laser facility.

Qualifications

• AA in Laser and Electro-Optics or equivalent training/experience.
• Experience with diagnostic instrumentation used in a scientific research laboratory.
• Experience using computer control and data acquisition systems.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
• Ability to attain DOE Q-clearance.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain diagnostic systems in a laser facility.
• Configure diagnostics, install, calibrate, and document hardware.
• Support data acquisition and interpretation for NIF experiments.
• Assist with alignment, testing, and troubleshooting of diagnostic setups.
• Adhere to safety, security, and quality procedures.
