Job summary

North Wind Services, supporting LLNL in Livermore, seeks an Engineering Technician V for quality assurance of large optical components. You will inspect finished and uncoated optics in a Class 100 cleanroom, document defects, review drawings, and generate NCRs when required.

You will collaborate with production, engineering, and supervision to ensure parts meet specs, maintain inspection records, and support investigations. DOE Q-level clearance required.

Qualifications

• AS or equivalent experience in Optical or Mechanical technologies.
• Experience with production technologies, including evaluating and testing processes.
• Ability to perform work deliberately, carefully, and safely.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately record process parameters.
• Experience with databases and related software.
• Experience in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform incoming and outgoing inspection of optics per approved procedures and drawings.
• Inspect optic surfaces for flaws such as scratches, digs, stains, haze, cracks, edge chips, and contamination.
• Document defects and contamination on inspection maps with precise location and size.
• Review drawings and specifications before starting inspection.
• Maintain inspection documentation and support quality investigations.
• Communicate inspection results clearly to technicians, engineers, and supervisors.
