Job summary

Boston Medical Center seeks a Senior Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists with comprehensive eye exams and testing. You will conduct Visual Acuity, Visual Field, refractive testing, tonometry, and related procedures while maintaining accurate medical records.

Responsibilities include patient preparation for procedures, assisting in laser surgery prep, and teaching junior staff. A strong background in ophthalmic tests and excellent communication are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferably education beyond high school in ophthalmic field.
• Certification through JCAHPO is required.
• Experience as ophthalmic assistant/technician is essential.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and collects demographic data and documents in medical records.
• Performs ophthalmic tests: Visual Acuity, Visual Field, Lensometry, Auto Refractometry, Pupils, EOM, tonometry, iCare, eye drops.
• Assists physician and may scribe or document decisions in records.
• Participates in training and mentoring of staff and supports laser surgery prep.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and the clinical area; follows infection control procedures.
