Job summary

Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I under the direct supervision of the department supervisor to support physicians with patient data collection and a smooth clinical workflow.

Responsibilities include visual acuity and visual field testing, tonometry, refractometry, pupil assessment, documentation in EMR, and assisting with procedures. Education: High school diploma; COA preferred; 1–3 years ophthalmic experience; opportunity to become COA within 18 months.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of ophthalmic experience preferred.
  • COA preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform refractometry and tonometry.
  • Strong math and science skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physician by gathering patient data and supporting care.
  • Conduct visual acuity and visual field testing.
  • Perform refractometry, tonometry, and related tests.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in EMR.
  • Maintain ophthalmic equipment and inventory.
  • Educate patients and coordinate care.
