Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Port Deposit, MD is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead the Distribution Center and its supervisory team, delivering turnkey warehousing and transportation solutions.

You will maintain a strong customer relationship and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires strong problem-solving and communication skills, plus experience in managing P&L and developing staff.

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma/GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain preferred.
• Master's degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation or related field preferred.
• Five (5) years or more relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, warehouse or industry related field required.
• Five (5) years or more managing, leading and developing direct reports required.
• Three (3) years or more Profit & Loss responsibility preferred.
• One (1) year or more customer interaction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with the customer to address issues and maintain satisfaction.
• Strategic operational planning and execution for the operation.
• Identify and solve operational issues with LEAN initiatives to boost productivity.
• Hire, supervise, develop and manage performance for employees.
• Maintain open communications within work groups and across the organization.
• May manage profit & loss statements depending on scope.
• Lead a proactive safety program and enforce location safety plans.
• Monitor equipment maintenance using checklists and observations.
