Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. in Akron, OH seeks an experienced Auditor III to join our Internal Audit team. You will plan, execute, and report on financial, operational, and compliance audits, including SOX testing, while advising management on control design and risk management.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams and external auditors will be essential to ensure audit quality and timely results. Responsibilities include identifying control gaps, supporting remediation, and presenting findings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
• 7–10 years' relevant work experience is required.
• Professional certification within one year (CIA, CPA, CFE, or CISA).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Time management skills.
• Able to travel to company locations less than 10%.

Responsibilities

• Planning, executing, and reporting on financial, operational, and compliance audits.
• Perform SOX-related testing and control evaluations.
• Identify internal control gaps and propose remedial actions.
• Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit populations.
