Job summary

FirstEnergy, headquartered in Akron, OH, seeks a Financial Reporting Analyst to join its on-site team. You will prepare monthly internal financial statements, analyze cash flow and SEC disclosures, and support external audits, while contributing to policies and internal controls in a dynamic utility environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 4–7 years' experience in financial reporting, US GAAP/SEC knowledge, and strong Excel/SAP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required; advanced degree or CPA preferred.
• Minimum 4-7 years relevant work experience in public accounting or corporate financial reporting.
• Strong technical US GAAP and SEC reporting knowledge preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• SAP knowledge preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participating in the preparation and distribution of monthly internal financial statements.
• Participating in preparation and analysis of cash flow statements for FirstEnergy and its subsidiary SEC registrants.
• Participating in the preparation, documentation and analysis of the Company's periodic SEC and regulatory reporting and disclosures.
• Providing support and assistance to external auditors.
• Assisting with the development of written policies and procedures over the financial reporting process.
• Maintaining the integrity of the financial reporting process and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Participating in evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
• Providing financial analysis to management for various ad hoc projects.
• Interfacing with and supporting various departments within the organization (legal, investor relations, treasury, etc.).
• Participating in educational opportunities and attending conferences to stay current on financial reporting requirements.
