Job summary

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Senior Manager, Operational Risk Management to join our team. This in-office role leads, implements, and provides independent oversight of the Bank’s ORM program across the enterprise, partnering with business leaders to enhance risk practices and ensure alignment with our Risk Appetite Statement.

You will chair the Operational Risk Committee, oversee KPI design and reporting, manage risk assessments for new products, and guide a growing ORM team to strengthen

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Eight (8) years of progressive banking experience with at least 3 years in operational risk management or ERM oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead and enhance the ORM framework to align with regulatory expectations and risk appetite.
• Provide independent oversight and credible challenge of operational risks across business activities.
• Chair the Operational Risk Committee (ORC) and lead governance forums for risk oversight.
• Promote strong risk culture and proactive identification of emerging risks.
• Oversee KPI program design, governance, and quarterly reporting to executives and the board.
• Oversee risk assessments for new/ revised products and services.
• Manage operational loss event process and remediation of corrective actions.
• Guide risk discussions on large enterprise initiatives, mergers, and integrations.
• Lead quarterly stripe risk assessments and enterprise risk posture reviews.
• Mentor ORM team members and foster continuous improvement.
