First Merchants Bank is seeking a Senior Manager, Operational Risk Management to lead and strengthen the bank's risk framework. You will oversee the ORM program, drive governance, and promote a culture of disciplined risk awareness across the enterprise.

The role requires eight years in risk-related roles within banking, including three years in Operational Risk Management or ERM oversight. Strong collaboration with business leaders and senior management is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Economics, Law, or related field.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of banking operations, operational risk management, enterprise risk management, internal audit, compliance, or related risk disciplines.
• Minimum of three (3) years of Operational Risk Management, second line/ERM oversight, or Internal Audit covering operational risk and providing independent oversight and credible challenge.

Responsibilities

• Lead and enhance the ORM framework to align with regulatory expectations and risk appetite.
• Provide independent oversight and credible challenge across business activities, products, services, processes, and change initiatives.
• Chair the Operational Risk Committee and guide governance forums for effective risk oversight and decision-making.
• Promote a strong operational risk culture and proactive risk identification.
• Oversee the KI Program and ensure governance, design, and thresholds are maintained.
• Lead operational risk reporting and analytics for execs, risk committees, and the board.
• Oversee the ORM New and Revised Products and Services Risk Assessment Program.
• Oversee operational loss event management and remediation actions.
• Guide ORM discussions on large, enterprise-wide projects including M&A and integrations.
• Conduct quarterly operational risk stripe assessments and contribute to board reporting.
• Mentor and develop the Operational Risk Management team.
