Job summary

Mercury seeks an experienced Operational Risk leader to own the day-to-day management of the risk program. You will report to the Head of Operational Risk and collaborate with Compliance, IT Security, Internal Audit, and first-line risk teams to shape how risk is identified, assessed, and remediated across the enterprise.

You will stand up core processes, define KRIs, and drive reporting to leadership and the Board.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in operational risk, compliance, or internal audit at a bank or fintech partnered with a bank.
• Hands-on ownership of an issues management or operational event program, incl. severity rating, escalation, and remediation validation.
• Experience administering a GRC platform (LogicGate, Archer, or similar), incl. workflow configuration and reporting.
• Strong data skills: turn raw issue and event data into trends for leadership.
• Familiarity with interagency and OCC expectations for operational risk management.
• Ability to challenge constructively with evidence and maintain relationships with oversight teams.
• Able to independently prioritize and drive key projects while balancing build and daily ops.

Responsibilities

• Set risk and control assessment standards; challenge first-line RCMS.
• Oversee the operational event program: root-cause, ratings, fixes; trend events enterprise-wide.
• Own the centralized issues management from intake to remediation validation.
• Define enterprise KRIs and thresholds; align with risk appetite and board reporting.
• Coordinate with 1LOD teams, InfoSec, Compliance and model risk owners to surface risks.
• Provide second-line review on high-risk new activities; write ORM standards and templates.
• Support regulatory examinations, audits, and readiness reviews.
