Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Manager in Risk Advisory to join the Risk Management Business Risk Office in McLean, VA. The role focuses on identifying and mitigating operational risks, leading regulatory engagements, and coordinating risk assessments across functions.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years in Risk Management, Compliance, or Audit, and 3+ years partnering with internal clients and regulators. A Master’s or MBA and professional risk certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
• At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance or Audit.
• At least 3 years partnering with internal business clients.
• At least 3 years interacting with internal audit, regulators, or government agencies.
• Masters Degree or MBA preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in Risk Management (Compliance, Audit, Risk Management).
• 3+ years of process or Project Management or related experience leading cross functional projects and programs.
• Risk Management Certifications (CRMA, CRMP, CRCM, FRM).

Responsibilities

• Advise and consult with ORM to help develop and implement well-designed risk frameworks, processes, controls, and supporting technologies to effectively mitigate risk
• Manage internal audits and regulatory exams directed to and/or impacting ORM
• Facilitate and lead risk assessments and related activities (Critical Business Process Identification, Process Level Assessments, Risk and Control Self-Assessments, Changed-Based Risk Assessments)
• Manage and support horizontal change processes for the Risk Management Division in adherence with enterprise Policies, Standards, and Procedures
• Stay current on the changing regulatory environment impacting Operational Risk Management and leverage data and technology to proactively identify risks, trends and/or process improvements
• Monitor issue remediation, tracking, and closure
• Escalate and report critical issues and risks to the Risk Management Business Risk Office and ORM Leadership team
