Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Risk Specialist for the Operational Risk Challenge & Advisory (ORCA) group in McLean or Richmond, VA. You will partner with business teams to identify and mitigate risks, provide second-line challenge, and influence risk-aware decisions.

You will collaborate across Risk Management, Internal Audit, and other business risk offices, analyze data, document findings, and support remediation efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in Risk Management, Audit, Finance, or Accounting.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in Risk Management, Audit, Finance, or Accounting.
• 1+ years of experience in Process Management.
• CPA, CIA, or PMP certification.
• Advanced skills in Google Sheets and Google Docs.
• Advanced skills in data analysis and data visualization tools (Tableau).

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd line effective challenge and advice to the 1st line on their execution of various risk assessment processes, including RCSA, PLA, PRA, Launch initiatives and others.
• Ensure results of effective challenge activities are properly documented and communicated, and perform detailed data analysis to identify risks, problem areas, and remediation plans.
• Serve as subject matter expert to BRO and IRM in the assessment of operational risk.
• Collaborate across Operational Risk Management, Risk Oversight, ERM, Business Risk Offices, Internal Audit, etc.
• Build relationships and become a trusted advisor to the first line Business Risk Offices.
• Participate in team efforts in ORCA.
• Be proficient in ERM's Risk and Control Standards.
