Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Manager, Risk Advisor to join the Risk Management Business Risk Office in Richmond, VA. The role partners with executives and teams to identify and monitor operational risks and to support audits, regulatory exams, and remediation efforts.

The ideal candidate will drive risk assessments, implement controls, and stay ahead of regulatory changes. A strong background in risk, compliance, and collaboration with business clients is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree or military experience.
• At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance or Audit.
• At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients.
• At least 3 years of experience interacting with internal audit, federal regulators, or government agencies.

Responsibilities

• Advise and consult with ORM to develop risk frameworks, processes, controls, and supporting technologies to effectively mitigate risk.
• Manage internal audits and regulatory exams directed to and/or impacting ORM.
• Facilitate and lead risk assessments and related activities (Critical Business Process Identification, Process Level Assessments, Risk and Control Self-Assessments, Changed-Based Risk Assessments).
• Manage and support horizontal change processes for the Risk Management Division in adherence with enterprise Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
• Stay current on the changing regulatory environment impacting Operational Risk Management and leverage data and technology to proactively identify risks, trends and/or process improvements.
• Monitor issue remediation, tracking, and closure.
• Escalate and report critical issues and risks to the Risk Management Business Risk Office and ORM Leadership team.
