Job summary

Hill International, Inc. in Houston, Texas seeks a Resident Engineer/Pavement Engineer to oversee pavement rehabilitation projects, coordinate with owners, justify recommendations, and ensure on-site quality and safety.

The role requires active field supervision, scheduling, meeting facilitation, and comprehensive record keeping for hot mix asphalt and concrete pavements, with licensure in Texas (or ability to obtain in 6 months).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in construction management.
• Must be willing to work full-time on-site.
• Experience with hot mix asphalt pavement and concrete pavement construction.
• Licensed for engineering in the State of Texas (or ability to get licensed in 6 months).

Responsibilities

• Advise on pavement rehabilitation strategies for hot mix asphalt and concrete; coordinate with owner and selections.
• Supervise on-site personnel involved in quality control and personnel administration.
• Provide directions to and scheduling of inspection staff; ensure proper inspection techniques.
• Ensure project field staff produce and maintain required project records.
• Review contractor operations to ensure compliance with schedule and scope.
• Monitor and resolve resident and authority complaints; hold progress and pre-installation meetings.
• Interact with owner to ensure satisfaction and proper communications.
• Participate in review boards to resolve nonconformance; follow up on corrections.
• Perform internal quality audits and inspections across disciplines.
• Coordinate QC materials management with site departments and contractors.
