Job summary

Hill International is seeking a Resident Engineer in Houston, Texas to supervise on-site quality control staff and manage field operations. The role requires strong leadership in coordinating inspectors, reviewing contractor work, and maintaining project records to keep the schedule on track.

Responsibilities include conducting weekly progress meetings, addressing design discrepancies, and communicating with the owner to ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience in construction management.
• Must be willing to work full-time on-site.
• Experience with hot mix asphalt pavement and concrete pavement construction.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct on-site personnel involved in quality control work, including performance reviews and wage reviews.
• Provide directions to inspection staff and ensure proper techniques are implemented.
• Ensure project records are produced and maintained by field staff.
• Inform staff of contract revisions and design discrepancies and follow through.
• Review contractor operations to ensure schedule compliance and identify critical activities.
• Monitor and resolve complaints from residents, businesses and authorities.
• Hold Weekly Progress Meetings and issue minutes.
• Hold Pre-Installation Meetings and issue minutes.
• Interact with the owner to ensure satisfaction with the project.
• Provide necessary outgoing correspondence and ensure compliance.
• Participate in review board meetings to resolve nonconformance and follow-up.
• Perform internal audits to ensure quality control requirements are implemented.
• Perform inspection of work in various disciplines as required.
• Coordinate quality control materials management with job site departments and contractors.
