Job summary

UVA Health’s Emily Couric Cancer Center is seeking an Access Associate Senior to ensure timely, coordinated, and compassionate access to oncology care in a leading academic medical center. You will guide patients and families, coordinate complex scheduling, and support providers with a focus on reducing delays and improving the patient experience.

Responsibilities include hands-on patient engagement, access coordination, and mentorship of peers within a fast-paced oncology environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Engage patients, families, and referring providers across the care continuum, in person and by phone.
• Manage complex patient scheduling to see the right provider at the right time.
• Serve as primary contact for patients requesting physicians and for departments coordinating appointments.
• Collect and verify demographic and insurance information and support cash collections.
• Resolve access-related issues including record retrieval, follow-ups, authorizations, and scheduling barriers.
• Participate in issue resolution and process improvement for more efficient patient care workflows.
• Mentor other Access Associates and model service excellence in oncology settings.
• Process incoming pathology materials and coordinate transfer and staging for processing.
