Job summary

UVA Health's Emily Couric Cancer Center seeks an Access Associate Senior to guide patients and families through the oncology access process. You will coordinate complex scheduling, verify details, and serve as the primary contact for patients and providers, shaping a compassionate patient experience.

This role emphasizes hands-on patient engagement, issue resolution, and mentorship in a fast-paced cancer care environment, with a strong focus on timely access and coordination.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 2+ years of directly relevant experience required.
• Licensure: None.

Responsibilities

• Engage patients and families across the care continuum by phone and in person.
• Manage complex patient scheduling to ensure timely visits with the right provider and records.
• Serve as the primary contact for patients requesting preferred physicians and for coordinating appointments.
• Verify demographic and insurance information, support cash collections, and address patient needs with professionalism.
• Resolve access-related issues independently, including record retrieval and scheduling barriers.
• Participate in issue resolution and process improvement to enhance patient access and workflows.
• Mentor other Access Associates and reinforce best practices in an oncology setting.
• Process incoming pathology materials and coordinate transfer/staging for pathology processing.
