Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a Customer Support Engineer to act as on-site technical and operational representative at customer power plants under LTSA or other service agreements. Based in Ohio, you will be the primary technical contact, supporting commissioning, operations, and asset lifecycle management.

The role requires extensive power plant experience, strong cross-disciplinary knowledge, and ability to communicate with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related engineering.
• 8+ years in power generation, operations, maintenance, commissioning, or technical support.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, automation and control systems.
• Senior-level experience in power plant operations or field service.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers and stakeholders.
• Professional English communication skills and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site technical representative and trusted advisor to the customer.
• Understand the plant as an integrated system across operations and maintenance.
• Support commissioning, start-up, and handover activities.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting to plant teams.
• Coordinate with internal experts to resolve issues.
• Monitor plant performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Assist with outage preparation, spare parts planning, and asset lifecycle initiatives.
• Prepare technical reports for stakeholders.
