Wärtsilä is seeking a Customer Support Engineer to act as on-site technical and operational representative at customer power plants under LTSA or other service agreements. Based in Ohio, you will be the primary technical contact, supporting commissioning, operations, and asset lifecycle management.
The role requires extensive power plant experience, strong cross-disciplinary knowledge, and ability to communicate with customers and internal teams.
Wärtsilä is looking for a Customer Support Engineer (CSE) to serve as our on‑site technical and operational representative at customer power plants supported under Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) or other service agreements.
As part of the Agreement Management team, you will be the primary technical point of contact for the customer, helping ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. You will develop a holistic understanding of the power plant, including operations, maintenance, reliability, performance, safety, spare parts, warranties, and asset lifecycle requirements.
The role may begin during commissioning and start‑up to support knowledge transfer, operational readiness, and a smooth transition into commercial operation.
Location: Johnstown, Ohio. Candidates may also be based in Columbus or New Albany, Ohio, and should be willing to commute to the Johnstown site as required.
Work model: On‑site, Monday through Friday
Salary: $48.00 - $58.00 USD per hour, plus eligibility for overtime, premiums, incentives, and bonus opportunities.

Candidates for regular U.S and Puerto Rico positions must be a U.S. citizen, national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee, asylee with valid work permit or temporary resident under 8 U.S.C. 1160(a) or 1255a(1). Individuals with temporary visas such as E, F‑1, H‑1, H1B, H‑2, L, B, J, or TN or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire.
For applicants that reside in: IL, CO, HI, ME, OH, the hourly wage range is 48 USD - 58 USD.
The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Eligibility to participate in: the discretionary incentive plan assigned to the level of position upon offer of employment; medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plan and flexible spending accounts, subject to plan terms; Company‑paid benefits such as life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability, subject to applicable waiting periods. Paid time off (PTO) is WÄRTSILÄ NORTH AMERICA, INC. accrued on a per‑pay period basis in accordance with tenure in the Company; a new hire can expect 17 days per year. Twelve (12) Company‑paid holidays.
Individuals hired for positions that require on‑site customer interactions and/or in‑person travel may be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID‑19 or other country‑specific vaccinations, unless otherwise prohibited by law.
