Job summary

TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Field Engineering Manager in the United States to coordinate on-site engineering activities and ensure work meets design, codes and standards. You will act as liaison with home office and lead the field engineering team across construction, commissioning and handover phases.

You will review submittals, manage field changes, assist with permits, site documentation, and handover, while mentoring staff in a high-pressure mining/industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Construction Management degree or diploma plus 10+ years leading field projects.
• Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary construction engineering teams on live sites.
• Deep knowledge of design criteria, engineering processes, and materials.
• Proficient with engineering software and project tools.
• Strong understanding of procurement and contracting practices.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective stakeholder communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to adapt under pressure and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of on-site engineering including discipline administrative function and ensures appropriate technical personnel are assigned to the project.
• Manage, supervise, direct and reviews activities of the field engineering team in the performance of on-site engineering design required during construction, commissioning and handover.
• Provide technical support to the Construction Management Team (CMT), construction supervisors and Contractors.
• Manage field change processes and Contractor RFI’s per procedures.
• Assist the Construction Manager to plan, budget and implement training/development programs for resources assigned to the project.
• Coordinate local permitting and inspection requirements as required (i.e.: building and occupancy permits, boiler safety registration processes, etc.).
• Assist CMT to develop and implement the Field Engineering section of the Construction Execution Plan.
• Provide on-site monitoring and engineering assistance with the constructability program.
• Perform review of Contractor CWP submittals, ITPs and Method Statements.
• Review of commissioning data for site verification purposes of design and performance results.
• Responsible and accountable for the timely resolution of cross-discipline clashes or conflicts arising from the engineering deliverables.
• Support Site Procurement/Contracting as required.
• Identify quality concerns, supports site quality management processes to ensure quality assurance and conformance to project requirements.
• Manage requests for substitutions, alternates, concessions, proposed alternative designs and/or changes and resolves these in a timely manner in consultation with the home office Engineering Manager or other project stakeholders as applicable.
• Coordinate inspections with consultants, Client and applicable regulators/authorities.
• Manage and coordinate the preparation of red-line markups and as-built/record drawings and documents as per the project close-out and handover plan.
• Monitor site document control to ensure appropriate, timely distribution of documents/data.
• Support Site HS&E to ensure that construction proceeds safely and in accordance with project and jurisdictional Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and regulations.
