Grifols Diagnostic Solutions in San Diego seeks a Scientist with expertise in oligonucleotide chemistry to provide synthesis, purification, and analysis for R&D projects. The role can manage subprojects and may represent R&D on Core Teams within a global healthcare setting.

The ideal candidate has 7–9 years of lab experience, advanced degrees in molecular biology, and strong analytical and collaboration skills to drive development and publish results for internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 7–9 years post-baccalaureate laboratory experience; industrial experience preferred.
• PhD with no post‑doctoral research experience or 4–6 years industrial experience (as applicable).
• Ph.D. with post‑doctoral research experience and 3–5 years industrial experience.
• Ability to lead subprojects or projects and represent R&D on Core Teams for product development.
• Strong collaboration and communication with junior level employees, peers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform automated oligonucleotide synthesis, deprotection and purification via standard phosphonamidite chemistry and chromatographic purification techniques.
• Conduct oligonucleotide analysis using LCMS, MALDI, UV/VIS, and HPLC/UPLC techniques; evaluate impurities and by-products; establish analytical protocols.
• Lead and execute complex experiments, providing guidance on experimental design, data interpretation, and follow-up work.
• Interact with peers and supervisors across teams to provide summaries, input, and support for broader goals.
• Maintain clearly written experimental records in written and electronic formats.
• Familiar with standard software tools used for instrument control, data analysis, and reporting results.
