Job summary

The City of Pompano Beach seeks an experienced lifeguard supervisor to patrol the public beach, oversee Ocean Rescue lifeguards, and ensure the safety of swimmers. You will lead rescues, enforce beach regulations, and coordinate training and records to support lifesaving operations.

Requirements include a minimum of three years as a surf beach lifeguard, EMT certification, and EVOC driving credentials. A strong emphasis on leadership, communication, and public safety is essential for success in

Qualifications

• Three (3) years’ experience as a Lifeguard on a surf beach.
• Surf lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Comparable training/experience may substitute minimum qualifications.
• Current Lifeguard Training and EMT certifications are required or clearly stated.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous surveillance of beach patrons and lifeguards, ensuring swimmer safety.
• Instruct, evaluate, and assist in rescues using appropriate techniques.
• Direct rescue operations until relieved by a supervisor.
• Enforce rules, ordinances, and state statutes governing public beaches.
• Supervise staff, conduct training, and monitor performance and discipline.
• Keep records and reports for Fire Rescue, USLA, and state agencies.
