Job summary

Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, GA is seeking an Occupational Therapist II to provide comprehensive evaluations, treatments, and patient education for individuals with complex medical and surgical conditions. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and serve as a Clinical Instructor for students.

You will develop measurable goals, ensure care quality, mentor staff, and participate in safety and quality initiatives within a dynamic clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• At least one year of clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
• A valid, unencumbered Occupational Therapist License approved by Georgia Board of Occupational Therapy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and NBCOT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive evaluations, testing, and treatment for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Educates patients and their families in a manner tailored to their needs.
• Develops and adjusts individualized treatment plans with clear, measurable goals.
• Ensures daily practices align with established patient care standards.
• Recommends appropriate equipment for patient care.
• Assists other staff in assessing patients and problems.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team conferences to enhance patient care.
• Works cooperatively with other team members to maintain a positive and results-oriented work environment.
• Collaborates with care teams and community resources for post-discharge planning and follow-up.
• Responds to requests for professional information or advice, referring complex matters to appropriate personnel.
• Participates in quality assurance activities.
• Assist the department in performing peer reviews and giving feedback to support staff.
• Participates in patient care committee initiatives as requested by the department.
• Mentors staff as appropriate.
• Plans treatment schedules for optimal staff and equipment use.
• Maintains productivity while adhering to quality standards.
• Monitors and ensures compliance with infection control and sterile technique protocols.
• Documents patient care details and records service charges accurately.
• Manages inventory, equipment maintenance, and work area organization.
• Serves as a Clinical Instructor for short term students
• Assists with new staff orientation.
• Assists department in maintaining a clear and accurate interdisciplinary and interdepartmental information flow.
