Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology seeks a Senior Observability Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale observability services across multi-cloud environments.

You will lead OpenTelemetry adoption, drive high-throughput pipelines, and collaborate with SRE, Cloud, CI/CD, and security teams to ensure reliable, secure, and cost-efficient observability at Fortune-6 scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years building backend services in Go, Python, or Java.
• 3+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry including instrumentation patterns and OTLP.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom software to drive the observability platform using Java Spring Boot, Python, Go.
• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services using Go, Python, Java (Spring Boot).
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry, including libraries, conventions, instrumentation, and Collector/agent strategy.
• Architect scalable, high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces) with focus on performance and cost efficiency.
• Develop self-service observability capabilities to simplify onboarding and troubleshooting for app teams.
• Define SLOs, health checks, and alerting for the observability platform itself.
