Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology seeks a Senior Observability Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale observability services across on-prem, hybrid, and multiple clouds.

You will advance OpenTelemetry adoption, develop backend services in Go, Python, and Java, and collaborate with SRE, Cloud, and CI/CD teams to improve reliability and developer experience. 40-hour weeks, full-time, with a strong focus on security and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 3+ years with observability practices, including SLIs/SLOs/SLAs and incident management.
• 3+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 3+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry, including OTLP and instrumentation patterns.
• 3+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 2+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate large-scale observability services.
• Lead adoption of OpenTelemetry across the enterprise.
• Design and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and best practices.
