Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology is building a world-class Observability Platform (EOP) to enable engineers to ship faster with reliable, secure telemetry across on‑prem, hybrid, and multi‑cloud environments.

As a Senior Observability Platform Engineer, you will design and operate backend services using Go, Python, and Java, driving OpenTelemetry adoption and standards across the enterprise to deliver scalable, cost-efficient observability at Fortune-6 scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 3+ years in observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incident mgmt).
• 3+ years building production backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 3+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry.
• 3+ years with Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD in cloud-native environments.
• 3+ years with public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• 2+ years designing/distributing high-volume pipelines.
• 2+ years with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• 2+ years with Grafana or equivalent observability backends.
• 2+ years with relational DBs (PostgreSQL, MySQL).

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate large-scale observability platform services.
• Lead OpenTelemetry adoption across teams (libraries, conventions, instrumentation).
• Architect scalable telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces) with focus on performance and cost.
• Create self-serve observability capabilities for engineering teams.
• Define SLOs, health checks, and alerting for the platform.
• Mentor engineers and guide cross-team platform standards.
