Job summary

Subway Headquarters seeks a Sr. Engineer, Observability, to own instrumentation across servers, networks, cloud services, and applications.

You will implement and maintain observability platforms, drive cost governance, and partner with engineering to ensure actionable telemetry and reduced noise. You will lead with technical influence, mentor teams, and collaborate on CI/CD integration, incident response, and service reviews while advancing a scalable observability strategy in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Expert in Dynatrace with distributed tracing, log management, dashboards, alerting, and automation.
• Experience with cloud monitoring tools (AWS/Azure) and log management.
• Ability to design alerts with low false positives and noise reduction.
• Experience managing observability consumption, tagging, and cost governance.
• Proficient in Windows and Linux; scripting in PowerShell and Bash.
• Strong communication across technology teams and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain observability and alerting platforms (Dynatrace, CloudWatch, Splunk).
• Practice detection engineering, choosing right patterns and backtesting alerts.
• Improve signal quality by tuning thresholds, dwell times, and routing.
• Own telemetry cost and consumption governance; optimize retention and query efficiency.
• Build automation and configuration-as-code for observability tooling.
• Collaborate with developers and platform teams to embed observability in CI/CD.
