Job summary

Staples is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I for Observability & Splunk Engineering to design and support enterprise telemetry across cloud and on-prem environments. You will lead large-scale data pipelines, ensure governance, and optimize costs while integrating with cloud platforms and CI/CD tools.

The role requires strong Splunk expertise, scripting skills, and experience with SAFe processes. Onsite work in Framingham, MA is expected with collaboration across IT teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years' hands-on Splunk experience and observability design.
• Experience with log pipelines, data retention, and cost optimization.
• Strong scripting (Python, Bash) for automation.
• SAFe methodology and enterprise tooling experience (Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow).

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and administer Splunk observability platform at scale.
• Optimize data pipelines, retention, and governance.
• Integrate observability with AWS, Azure, Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Oversee log pipelines, retention, and performance tuning.
• Install, upgrade, and manage Splunk apps; manage roles/access.
• Collaborate with deployment tools and ITSM platforms; automate tasks.
