Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an Observability Engineer for a fully remote role in the U.S. You will design and operate metrics, logs, traces, and alerting platforms to give engineering teams confidence in the systems they run.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in SRE or observability, hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog, and can translate telemetry into actionable insights for engineers and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• 12+ years in SRE, platform engineering, or observability roles.
• Hands-on with Prometheus, Grafana, and major observability platforms.
• Strong OpenTelemetry, tracing, and structured logging skills.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java.
• Experience with high-cardinality, high-throughput metrics/log pipelines.
• Knowledge of SLOs, error budgets, and SRE principles.
• Experience integrating observability with CI/CD and incident tooling.
• Solid Linux, networking, and container platform knowledge.
• Excellent communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate enterprise observability platforms for metrics, logs, traces, and events.
• Architect Prometheus/Thanos/Mimir, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, and Datadog deployments for scale.
• Develop standards for service instrumentation, including OpenTelemetry adoption and logging conventions.
• Define and enforce SLOs, SLIs, and dashboards/alerts.
• Build alerting strategies with clean on-call workflows.
• Operate large-scale time-series and log storage, balancing retention and cost.
• Design distributed tracing pipelines and help teams diagnose latency issues.
• Develop self-service tooling and templates for product teams.
• Lead incident readiness improvements with better dashboards and runbooks.
• Partner with SRE and platform teams to integrate observability into pipelines.
• Evaluate observability vendors and open-source tools.
