Job summary

Roku is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Observability team. You will design, develop, and scale the platform used across Roku engineering to alert and monitor thousands of services, building components in Go and Rust atop open-source tools.

AI-driven workflows and collaboration with Platform/Infra teams are central to the role. The role emphasizes ownership and fast iteration in a hybrid office model, with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure engineering and/or DevOps experience with observability
• Hands-on experience building with AI tools and agents in development/ops workflows
• Strong programming experience in Go and/or Rust; familiarity with performance-sensitive systems
• Experience deploying and operating open‑source observability tools at scale (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, etc.)
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and Istio architectures; cloud exposure (AWS/GCP/Azure)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and scale the observability platform used by Roku engineering teams
• Write Go and Rust components for the metrics stack on top of OSS technologies
• Incorporate AI-assisted capabilities into the platform and workflows
• Collaborate with Platform and Infra teams to standardize observability tools
• Invest in platform stability, performance, and reliability
• Build automation for onboarding developers (dashboards, alerts, traces)
• Contribute to open-source projects in CNCF ecosystem
• Partner with engineering teams to deliver a better out-of-the-box experience
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and interns
