Roku, Inc. in California seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Observability team to design, build, and scale its platform used by Roku engineering.

You will write Go and Rust, work with Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, Loki, Tempo, and OpenTelemetry, and apply AI-assisted tooling to improve performance, reliability, and developer experience. The role emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and delivering practical engineering solutions in a hybrid setup with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Infrastructure Engineering and/or DevOps, focused on observability
• AI-driven engineering with experience using AI tools and agents in daily work
• Strong Go and/or Rust programming experience; comfortable with performance-sensitive systems
• Experience deploying and operating open-source observability tools at scale (Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, Loki, Tempo)

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance components of our metrics stack in Go and Rust
• Use AI tools and agents in daily development and operations tasks
• Scale and optimize the observability platform for Roku engineers
• Collaborate with Platform/Infra teams to standardize observability tools
• Improve stability, performance, and reliability of the observability stack
• Automate deployment and configuration of observability tools
• Contribute enhancements to open-source projects in CNCF ecosystem
• Mentor engineers and drive technical direction on the platform
