Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or related technical discipline.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in nuclear surety of strategic weapon systems.
  • Knowledge of nuclear surety principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Experience with NWS safety design principles, security, and use control features.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and ability to obtain/hold a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Lab's focal point for nuclear surety engineering and apply systems engineering principles to enhance design.
  • Develop and implement systems engineering processes to ensure nuclear surety compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and validate systems against nuclear surety requirements.
  • Review TOG/WSS requirements, recommend improvements, and apply traceability practices.
  • Provide technical guidance on nuclear weapon system safety to DoD sponsors.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to ensure safety and security.
  • Review certification processes to ensure objective evidence is identified and accessible to sponsors.
  • Prepare technical products, reports, and deliverables for sponsors and stakeholders.
