Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Space Systems Engineer to support new concept development and ongoing NSS projects. You will lead teams, perform systems analyses, and interface with sponsors to define requirements and risks.

The role requires a BS/ MS in engineering or physics, 8+ years in space engineering, and 5+ years on national security space programs, plus a TS/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• BS (or higher) in engineering, physics, or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of space engineering experience.
• 5+ years on national security space related projects.
• Broad technical base and strong analytical skills.
• Demonstrated leadership working with teams/sponsors.
• Demonstrated communications skills in presentations and in writing.
• Active TS/SCI clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams in formulation, development, and execution of space mission concepts and systems analysis.
• Provide technical interface to sponsor and project management.
• Perform systems-level technical analysis, trade studies, and analysis of alternatives.
• Create engineering documents, reports, proposals, and presentations.
• Lead design reviews and coordinate system interfaces; manage risk.
