Job summary

Blykalla seeks an experienced Nuclear Operations Manager for the Fjäll program in the United States. This role defines the operational framework from design through startup, guiding fuel handling to criticality and leading a senior operator team.

You will collaborate with safety, licensing, QA, and design authorities, and you will ensure readiness for startup and the transition to on-site operations in Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in nuclear facility operations, including time as a licensed or certified operator or shift supervisor.
• Hands-on experience with fuel handling and core loading.
• Experience writing operating procedures and running a conduct of operations program.
• Experience designing or running operator training and qualification using a systematic approach to training.
• Experience giving operations input to the design of a new or modified nuclear facility.
• Understanding of how operating limits and surveillance requirements are derived from a safety analysis.
• Comfort holding and exercising Stop-Work Authority.
• US work authorization.
• Strong written communication; comfortable drafting procedures and regulator-facing material.
• Ability to work in a founder-stage environment.

Responsibilities

• Write and own the concept of operations for the facility and define modes, states and transitions.
• Provide operations input to design, safety basis and required changes.
• Develop conduct of operations program and procedures; establish shift model and log turnover.
• Lead operator training, qualification, and handover from interim operators.
• Interface with partners and ensure readiness for startup and initial fuel load.
• Lead the crew through initial fuel load and approach to criticality.
