Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical/Chemical Engineer to support the Fermi Nuclear Generating Station in Newport, MI. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement: three days on-site and two days remotely, within a project team focused on design, modification, and analysis of instrumentation and control systems at the Fermi 2 plant.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from ABET accredited program with coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfers.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the power industry.
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for nuclear power plant mechanical design.
• PE license is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Modify packages for operating nuclear power plants.
• Create functional mechanical drawings and other plant system drawings.
• Perform engineering analyses and evaluations for modifications and operation of plant systems.
• Prepare technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment.
• Evaluate vendor bids for plant equipment.
• Conduct studies and option evaluations for operating plant modifications.
