Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior mechanical/chemical engineer for nuclear power plant systems design in Chattanooga, TN. The role involves preparing and reviewing modification packages, drawings, analyses, specs, and vendor bids, with opportunities to lead project teams and interface with clients onsite.

The position requires 10+ years in the power industry, ABET‑accredited degree, and a preference for PE licensure. Hybrid schedule with in-office work three days per week is expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited mechanical or chemical engineering degree required.
• 10+ years of experience in the power industry.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for nuclear plant mechanical design.
• PE license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Modify packages for operating nuclear power plants and review drawings for plant systems.
• Prepare or review engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems.
• Create technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment; evaluate vendor bids.
• Conduct studies and options evaluations for plant modifications; lead project teams.

Education

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
