Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group is seeking an experienced License Renewal (LR) and Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) engineer. The role involves supporting LR/SLR applications, aging management programs, and NRC-related activities for U.S. nuclear plants.

Hybrid schedule with in-office presence required. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in nuclear or regulated engineering, strong writing and regulatory experience, and familiarity with NEI 95-10/17-01, NRC procedures, and aging management

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of engineering, licensing engineering, program engineering, design engineering, or related regulated industry experience, preferably nuclear.
• Experience delivering accurate, high-quality technical documentation in a regulated environment.
• Familiarity with QA/QC protocols and configuration management.
• Strong systems thinking and ability to balance innovation with safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform System Scoping, Screening, and Aging Management Review for SLR applications per NEI 17-01 and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering and regulatory teams to ensure NRC compliance and license extension commitments.
• Develop engineering program basis documentation, data validation, change tracking, and configuration control.
• Plan inspections to meet NRC regulations and renewal commitments.
• Review inspection work orders to ensure license renewal criteria are met.
• Interact with clients and NRC as a technical expert.
• Maintain awareness of aging management regulations and operating experience.
• Foster continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
