Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced LR/SLR engineer to support license extensions and post-approval activities across the U.S. nuclear fleet.

You'll engage in scoping, aging management reviews, and program documentation while coordinating with NRC and client teams. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in nuclear licensing or related fields, familiarity with NEI/NUREG documents, and a track record of delivering high-quality regulatory artifacts in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited program with coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfers.
• 5+ years in engineering/licensing/design/program engineering, ideally in nuclear or highly regulated industry.
• Experience producing accurate, high-quality documentation in regulated environments.
• Familiarity with engineering docs systems, nuclear QA/QC protocols, and configuration management.
• Strong systems thinking and balancing innovation with safety/compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform System Scoping, Screening, and Aging Management Review for SLR applications per NEI 17-01.
• Collaborate with engineering and regulatory teams to ensure NRC compliance and license extension commitments.
• Prepare engineering program basis documentation, data validation, change tracking, and configuration control.
• Roadmap inspections to comply with NRC regulations and license renewal commitments.
• Review inspection work orders to ensure license renewal criteria are met.
• Interact with clients/NRC in a technical expert role.
• Maintain awareness of aging management regulation changes and operating experience.
• Foster continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
