Job summary

Valar Atomics in the United States is seeking a senior I&C engineer focused on neutron detection and radiation monitoring to ensure safe, compliant reactor operations. You will lead design, integration, and qualification activities for reactor protection and monitoring systems.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with physics, electrical, and operations teams, oversee vendor engagements, and drive FAT/SAT testing, calibrations, and safety analyses in line with DOE guidance and relevant

Qualifications

• 8+ years of nuclear I&C and radiation detection experience.
• Bachelor’s in Nuclear, Electrical Engineering or Physics.
• Experience with neutron detectors and signal conditioning electronics.
• Familiarity with safety analysis (FMEA, hazard analysis).
• Knowledge of IEEE 603, ANSI/ANS standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and integration of I&C systems for reactor protection.
• Oversee detector placement, shielding, and calibration plans.
• Manage FAT/SAT, environmental and seismic qualification.
• Coordinate with vendors and regulators.
